Art's was founded in 1948 by Arthur E. Fasshauer as a custom
tailor shop, making custom suits for men. Located on the third floor of the
Reif Building (presently Mary Beth Bridal) he operated there until 1950 when
a fire forced him to move to the second floor of the Male building.
In 1951 he moved his business to the southern half of the present
location of Art's for Him. At this time he added Ladies ready to wear clothing
to his product mix. Art continued to expand his selection through the fifties
and remodeled the store in 1961. Sensing the need to further expand his store
he added 700 square feet to his operation and added young men's clothing.
In 1980 Art purchased the former Mackle's store a few doors
and moved his ladies operation there naming it "Art's for Her".
In 1983 Art's for Him underwent an expansion when the former
tobacco store was purchased. This added 900 square feet to their store.
Everyone at Art's is proud to serve the people of Wayne,
Pike, and Sullivan counties. They pride themselves on providing trusted names
in clothing as well as special services such as fast, free alterations, special
orders, and personal attention in selecting a wardrobe or a special gift.
